Adding ringtones etc to Android via storage

There is a place in your external storage; be this the SD card or in case of the nexus just the part of internal memory your are shown when you connect the usb; where you can drop audio files and have them magically appear in your alarm, ringtone or notification menus. You need to make specific directories in specific locations for the files to be parsed when building the menus.

Put the maps in one of the following

And put the audio files in these maps (inside the aforementioned directories)

  • alarms
  • notifications
  • ringtones

ie. /media/audio/alarms/ ; /media/audio/notifications/ ; /media/audio/ringtones/

So if you really want to drive EVERYONE bat shit crazy, including yourself, you can now wake up to the sound of nyan.cat 😀 I know I will!!
