Evaluating Microsoft Office Live Workspace

Now, thanks to the interwebs, everyone can “enjoy” Microsoft Office trough the Microsoft Office Live Workspace web app. Lets give it a whirl 🙂

There are Obviously software requirements, luckily I do have Firefox, so no problem! Its a bunch of ajax n all, I constantly run the google apps, so … hm .. oh wait .. apparently .. “Everyone” isnt Really EVERYONE.

To use Microsoft Office Live Workspace beta, your computer must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 6, 7, and 8 running on Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, or Windows Vista. You can download Internet Explorer from the Internet Explorer page.
  • Mozilla Firefox running on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, or Mac OS X 10.2.x and later. You can download Firefox from the Firefox download page.
  • Safari 3 and 4 on Mac OS X 10.2.x and later.

So .. “running on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, or Mac OS X 10.2.x and later.” ?

Yeah. This isn’t about guaranteeing that things work; this is about furthering their near monopoly. But then again, thats just what we ve grown accustomed to from Microsoft. And its extra sad considering how it apparently once nearly was “a bunch of engineers making cool stuff”. (they could ve done what Google is doing now.) Sad.
