Mulberries!

I just had a go at the Mulberry tree back in the yard.

Mulberry

Mulberries (Moerbeien or Moerbeibessen) are a rather unknown type of fruit in Belgium and They RULE!

I grew up in a problematic fruit situation. I had several types of fruit in the yard and when it ripened, there was an Incredible amount of fruit on the different bushes & trees. Loads and loads of fruit I barely had to share with anyone and more so, more than we all together were able to eat!
So I grew into the habit of attacking the source of the fruit and eating till I ran out of time or had enough for the day. Imagine eating fruit non stop for half an hour. And then imagine doing that every summer. Every day. .. yeah, I have a problem πŸ™‚ I still do this every summer. Though at times, I sometimes have to pay for the fruit and thats an bill that runs high at that rate. People also find it exuberant that I eat the fruit at that a rate. I cant help it, its what I grew up doing each summer, all summer long πŸ™‚

And the earliest fruit memory I have, is sitting in the mulberry tree & eating. Eating at the typical insane rate I just mentioned πŸ™‚ The tree was already Really big back then and .. I cant have been more than 7 years old, because they moved it to another location when I was about that age. The tree stopped producing food after that for several years 😦

So our old mulberry trees are really important to me. The raspy feeling of the leaves; the way the berries grow black, the separate ripening of each berry, .. I love those trees πŸ™‚

And I dont get why there arent more people who know these berries here. They re amazing πŸ™‚

I’m considering to try and breed them πŸ™‚ Apparently seedlings are better than cuttings, so why not give it a try πŸ™‚

And I was just VERY surprised to find out the mulberry tree has a page on the Erowid Vault! πŸ™‚ Erowid is easily the coolest site on the interwebs!

I cant wait to have some more tomorrow! πŸ™‚
