Testing some experimental Perl code; In 2 term windows, placed so I can see both at the same time..
- with in one term window the editor (yes, emacs!);
- and in the other a compiler on loop “while true; do clear; date; perl test.pl; sleep 3; done“;
really rules 🙂
I save my files and 3 seconds later, most of the time quicker, I can see the result in the other window (convieniently placed so I can see both at the same time..) Its great! Ideal for quickly testing some experimental code before putting it in the bigger picture 🙂
And you can do it in X, but you can also do it in screen! Probably best not to run it on production machines since you re really wasting processor there 😉
Buh, emacs!
Try vi! 😀
