I updated the getIp script I used to update my remote IP information with the ifconfig type resolve and thats about it for today 🙂
Now, as for the pictures..
I just discovered the bluetooth in Ubuntu Ibex is broken (again) crap! (They re on my cell) Anywho, this is my temporary server room in the basement. They will get their special final place under the basement stairs in about a month. Right now there s the Soekris router (temporarilly with switch on top but that one ll go once I find the time to finalise the full NIC config. There s 8 ports, that should do ;)), connected to the power management sispm block over USB and in the back, the old fileserver, Kabouter.. a prehistoric machine that still chugs along & does its dues as a fileserver 😉 (Its processor speed doesnt even break the ol’ gigahertz barrier..)
The sispm usb driven power block for all your networking needs 😉 With the telenet booster, telemodem, Fileserver, Hub & Soekris connected (left to right..)
Admittedly, it doesnt look like much, but I dont have to stand the noise anymore, I can power the fileserver up & down as I see fit without leaving my computer; I can reset the telemodem without going to the basement, hell I can even cut myself off from the network completely by disabling the switch (yeah, thats usefull *rolleyes*) So – Hooray!
& finally.. The linux in exile guy makes a decent point in his latest post, that resolves about the following Great computer wisdom..
Broken gets fixed
Shoddy lasts forever

& now I’m REALLY calling it a day
