Right. Retyping this one.. It ll be worse for the wear, but thats how it ll be.. TeleFuckers!
After installing Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex – 8.10 yesterday, I noticed the NIC didnt work immediately. I rebooted the machine & it worked, so I gathered all it needed was a lil reboot..
Today though, I booted into the machine to update the Wifi driver (something that didnt work out of the box; check the ubuntu wiki page for more info..) only to discover that it didnt work. After some looking around, I found out this is due to a Kernel 2.6.27-11 bug Frack!
While pondering the possibilities (downgrading is a slight nuisance without network access..) I remembered the Kuki project! And most of all; the fact that they put up their Kernel for separate download! And since the Kuki project is Ubuntu based, this was exactly what I needed 🙂
So a download, USB key dance and .deb moment later .. I was booting into a fully working Ubuntu install 🙂
And it DOES work more smoothly than the 8.04 🙂 I really need to get my hand on one of those lil Ones 😉 & The Missus loves her Fixed one! hehe
