My name is Gert Schepens and I’m in IT as Open Source & Linux consultant living in Lede, Belgium.
I was born May 27th, 1982, I live in Lede with Viona, my wife, I have a driving license cat B and you can mail me trough gert at cone.be My primary language is Dutch, I speak good French & English and know a little German and Spanish. (I hope to improve on the English, French & Spanish in the years to come, but thats not a priority right now)

I have written in Quick Basic, Turbo Pascal, Script languages, Visual Basic 6, VB.net, C++, C#, Java, Java applet, PHP & Perl. I enjoy programming once in a while.
Ive used about everything & I’m used to Making it Work! Even if its quite the chalenge. I enjoy the chalenge

I started this blog several years ago as an experiment. I was using gAIM (now Pidgin) & I wanted to test the Gaim-Blogger plugin. So I got myself a blogger account & .. it just stuck with me all these years. I’ve grown used to spewing all sorts of rubbish, to use it as a place to vent and report on my life. January 2008, I decided that blogger was too restricted for my needs and moved the blog to http://blog.cone.be. Cone being the family domain, an inheritance from my father. The old & new blog pages are now all available on this blog for archiving reasons. Its really a part of my life. Online. And its all there for anyone to read. And updated several times a year.. Month.. Week .. Day .. sometimes even hour!
So yeah, this is me. I dont expect anyone to read this, but while pondering my new blog, I figured I needed to include an about page. No real clear reason, just .. because.
