ReGenesis
Filed Under (Entertainment) by Gert on 31-07-2009
I just watched the ReGenesis Series Finale.
All n all its a nice series and Ill miss it. Took a while to grow on me, when I saw those first episodes last year, but in the end its a nice series!
Its Great to have a real ending too. Instead of too much of those series just stopping dead where they are & leaving us all wanting.

These last few days
Filed Under (Maine Coon, Work) by Gert on 31-07-2009
I had an eventful last few days. First there was the job thing. Then the Carouso scare and then today there was the First Warmachine 500 points battle!
Job related
After a frustrating ride, I yesterday signed my contract at the new place and turned in my resignation at the current place
More info on the new place soon, but Ill keep it a surprise for now ![]()
Im excited and happy at this new challenge!!
Rouso
Our dear cat jumped through our open velux window yesterday. So he ended up in the first level rain gutter. Our gutter is quite broad and made of concrete, so that was no direct problem. However, there was no way for Rouso to get away from there in any safe way.
Luckilly, I was still awake, beyond the healthy hours and heard some weird noize. So I went to have a look and found Rouso where he was and Grigio trying to get there. I put Grigio somewhere else and started Operation Save Carouso!
Which meant waking Vi, getting out a ladder and exploring the gutter at 2 at night!
Rouso came away with a scare and some dirt. We all learned a lesson here; we wont leave that window unattended and Rouso ll probably do the same thing next time he gets the chance
He s still a cat, you know – hehe

Warmachine Faction Deck MKII
Filed Under (Games) by Gert on 30-07-2009
I bought the Khador Faction Deck MKII today. I thought I was buying a deck with the new Warmachine MKII rules, but apparently, those are Not what I just bought! I apparently bought a deck of normal cards, pretty color cards, undoubtedly to replace the old black and white ones.
Now I do wonder.. How should I have known that this Faction Deck MKII was not a faction deck of the MKII rules?
It took me a long while to check all this and then to finally find the following thread..
The current reprinted faction decks say mk2 on them already since they have been reprinted to include all color cards. So faction deck for Warmachine mk2, may have to be called Faction decks mk3.
This may lead to some confusion down the road when people and suppliers start ordering the new faction decks.
http://www.privateerpressforums.com/index.php?showtopic=175828
More than a lil frustrated, I started writing the following reply to the thread. Apparently being the first person to want to post this reply to the thread..
Right, I actually feel quite cheated.. I bought a box saying “Khador Faction Deck MKII”. Expecting to buy a faction deck for the new MKII rules. Excited at how the new stats might look and whatnot.. Only to find out, after a lot of paranoia and sifting through the forums to find info about the new stats, comparing them.. that they re NOT the new MKII rules, but just something thats has MKII printed on the box but has NOTHING to do with the MKII rules. (Was all this confusing? MKII vs MKII? Imagine my confusion!)
This Sucks!
Im sorry to be so negative, but I dont like that I just spent €15 on something I REALLY didnt need!
After posting the reply it soon became apparent WHY the thread didnt contain any complaints, I was Not able to post in that forum! Probably because Im not a play tester or whatever.. Anyway, I was still feeling duped and frustrated so I just sent a mail to the customer service.
Hi,
I bought the Khador Faction Deck MKII today and I feel quite cheated. I was expecting to buy cards with the new MKII stats; but apparently that is not what I bought.
This is Extremely confusing and frustrating.
Thinking I had bought the new cards, I was quite paranoid at the lack of difference in my cards & the ones from my fresh MKII deck. So I just spent hours confirming the difference or rather lack thereof. Until I was able to confirm it and afterwards discovered this thread. http://www.privateerpressforums.com/index.php?showtopic=175828 So apparently this is a problem that has already been noticed?
I prepared a reply to vent my frustrations, only to discover that I couldnt reply to the thread; frustrating me even More. And that is why I’m sending you this message. Is there a way to discern between this MKII deck and the MKII rules?
I’m quite dissapointed at this whole situation and hope you can at least solve this for other gullable saps who would make this mistake in the future!
Thanks,
Gert
What a shitty situation! Im curious how and if they ll solve this.
Though I do expect a swift reply to my complaint, they re caring like that
AARGHL!
Edit: Soon after sending the email, Adam from Privateer Press replied sugesting I take them back to the shop where I bought them or if that wasnt possible, send the cards back to Privateer Press directly. Soon followed by Kevin in the comments with a word of clarification on why that forum post was locked. PPS lives up to its customer care and community reputation. Check the comments for more info..
Post MkII edit: Im happy to see that the new, real MkII cards have “2010 edition” plastered all over them!
No more such problems in the future.. ![]()
Thank you Privateer Press!!

The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters
Filed Under (Entertainment) by Gert on 28-07-2009
I just finished reading The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters by GW Dahlquist. An amazing and Thrilling read! Really!
The back cover promises “An erotically charged, rip-roaring adventure, with scarcely a dull moment to be had, which defies its great length to keep the reader on the edge of his seat” in a quote from the daily mail and I am happy to report that this was absolutely the case. 753 pages of pure adventurous fun, a thrilling read indeed
I cant wait to start the second part, The Dark Volume
I am confident that the second book will be every bit as thrilling and interesting as this first one was. And because of that, I will now shelve the first and open the second book. Ill see you when i’ve read it
ssssssssssshht!

a painfull protectorate victory
Filed Under (Games) by Gert on 27-07-2009
I just finished an interesting encounter with Thomas’ bunch of Protectorate wankers.
Its sad to admit.. but they won. :/
We played the Summers heat act 3 – Scenario 8 – Smoke on the Water (Escalation Pg 194) where 2 barges cross eachother on the river & the player controlling the last barge wins. A super FUN scenario with the 2 barges sliding past eachother (now you re in melee, now you re not), surrounded by deep water (bye bye unit overboard) and the randomness of the barges speed (this turn 6 inches forward; the next merely one!). FunFun!
Thomas saw fit to badly damage my barge and throw overboard my only ranged jack, forcing me to board his barge. But because the barge was far along, I was only able to get my warcaster on his. So that was the end of that :/
Ill have my revenge!

The baleful state of my server room
Filed Under (Information technology) by Gert on 27-07-2009
I must lament the baleful state of my server room.
My Kabouter fileserver gave out before we left for warmer regions and booting it now, the problem appears graver that I would have thought. I have no clue yet to what extent the damage actually spans, but I am sad to report that the symptoms are quite beyond what I initially observed.
On top of that problem, I also had the dubious pleasure of discovering my sis-pm power block, the rock on which I built my server contraptions with pious efforts, now violently shorts out. The casualties so far being our deep freezers content with an estimate of 100€ worths of food. The culprit has been removed and I will check the warranty on the device since it cant be over 10 months since I acquired it; the first 4 months spent laying in wait, safely in its box.
Needless to say I am quite disappointed at the total state of the whole and if any pleasure might be derived it will only be in restoring my file-server to life and potentially enjoying the magic of spinrite (Can you believe Steve still uses plain old html files for his site in lieu of one of the currently popular CMSes? Cute
) in the process.

Another brawl with the telenet people
Filed Under (Interwebs) by Gert on 27-07-2009
They really DO suck. Though I happily admit that this was the quickest resolve to date. Exceptional really. Though rather marking the exception of this gratification than as a quantifier. This morning internet was erroring out & after a lengthly phone call, the internet connection is now restored.
Galling service really!
