Linux Flash Plugins

I just tested swfdec & gnash to replace the standard flash plugin & I wanted to watch the following vid
SWFDec wors like a charm. I love the fact that they dont auto load the flash thing.. is great. Though in some interfaces it might be annoying.. Asfor the test.. It failed to show the movie :/

First post from my Fresh Ubuntu HH x64 install cool, isnt it!!
& also .. I read this Great post (The Great Ubuntu-Girlfriend Experiment) earlier & doubted the way installing the flash pluging via youtube works. Now, since I have this fresh install – this was The best time to try So I opened Youtube & .. when loading a flash page, I got a Nice dialogue, presenting me an ubuntu install window. 2 clicks later, Ubuntu auto installed my new plugin! Now, I might have installed some helper to do that (I started off by installing some 140 packages) but any way, this worked wonders
Now that HH is back online, its time to cuddly my sweety
(Take that, Windows – a full install on one evening. Programs, codecs, plugins n all!!!)

I just copied my X laptop data (Lots of GBs) to my home server to prepare my reformatting to Ubuntu HH.
I did a vanilla install of the beta to test. Vanilla means one partition with all data on. I cant have that, I need to be able to reinstall the system without having to move all my data around – like I’m doing right now :/
This means Several Gigabytes (Linux CD Images, Virtual Machines, ..) of data & I didnt feel like the cable guy so its over Wifi. I did a lot of it over Samba & the new Gnome VFS. And now I just started the last one over scp (ssh). The difference in speed is – AMAZING!
SMB: 2.2MB/s
SSH: 3,3MB/s
Thats over a megabyte per second More! This is not a small or insignificant difference! No doubt I’ll use SCP even more from now on.. I really didnt expect SUCH a difference!! On a 1 gb file, this means an estimated difference of (465s – 310s) 155 seconds or 2 minutes and 35 seconds! Thats a Considerable difference!

Dont get me wrong – I want this, from the first moment I heard about it. & I really hope they bring Maya (Yourself Fitness!) to the Wii Fit! That d be AWSOME (Even without the fit it would be amazing – but a missed chance)

I realised MS wont bring Office to Linux for the simple reason that there s a lot of people who dont go Linux because of it. Thus effectively holding back “20xx – The year of the Linux desktop”
Maybe I should get involved in OO ; Fix bugs if & when I can.. If only it wasnt Java :/ I’m good at java, but I just dont think it should be USED!! Still – its got its place in the tao of programming.. However so humble :/
I’m quite tired.
I ve been doing stuff all evening – barely had time for anything. 30 minutes of desperate housewives (instead of 45!!) was about it, for whats concerned RnR :/
And I wanted to catch up some X work.. That fracking OO crashing on me with bigger files Really set me back – A LOT!
& instead of cutting my losses & trying to manage it without OO; I kept on trying. At least now I figured its the same “scrolling fast in large document” error I heard about earlier.. & large.. I’m talking 40 pages :/
Its probably the only piece of code I like, but damn I d like an MS Office on Linux! They really should expand onto the linux market. They re missing out on a great deal of people and .. its a good product. .. to some degree :s
Dont get me wrong here – I LIKE OO!! But those constant weird crashes the last 2 days were just too much! I even ran a RAM test earlier today to make sure it wasnt my fresh laptop that was causing the trouble!
